pears being grown in these two Pacific Northwest states.
USDA-ARS Tree Fruit Research Laboratory
The USDA-ARS Tree Fruit Research Laboratory was the first fruit research laboratory to be established in the heart of the apple producing country of North America. Their mission is to solve problems facing the U.S. tree fruit industry by conducting basic and applied research that is regional, national and international in scope which will ensure the long-term competitiveness of our fruit industry in domestic and international markets, and to do so in an environmentally responsible manner.
WSU Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center
The primary mission of this Center is to conduct research programs and transfer information and technology to continue to strengthen Washington State's fruit production, fruit quality and national and international competitive position.

Washington State Apple Blossom Festival
The Washington State Apple Blossom Festival Association is a Washington non-profit corporation. Formerly, it was a semi-autonomous division of the Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce, and is now an independent organization. It is the oldest major festival in the state of Washington.
